The Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (CEREC) system was developed by Sirona, a leading dental technology company, to create top-quality dental restoration products with ease and efficiency. The system is complete with a computer and milling machine that, together, scan, design and mould ceramic restorations for crowns, bridges, veneers and implants.
Dr Borman uses an infrared camera to take digital images of the tooth or area requiring restoration. The images are sent to the computer screen, which creates a 3D restoration model and is cut from a ceramic block by the milling machine. The milling machine creates the restoration in under half an hour, allowing for same-day procedures and eliminating the need for follow-ups.
